The owners of this house in Olot, Spain asked Arnau Estudi d’Arquitectura to extend their home. They read the place and proposed two extensions and a reform. The renovation of the existing house is based on the connection of spaces, optimisation of circulation and, above all, the recovery of the original structure: an interesting system of four-point turns supported by bearing partition walls. The expansion to the north inserts a new polyvalent volume that encompasses a garage on the ground floor and a gym on top. To the east, the architects extend the building through a kitchen/porch that spins the house around the garden.
