Damien Hirst Unveils 14 Fetus Sculptures in Qatar

Sidra Medical and Research Center in Doha, Qatar, came into the spotlight when British artist Damien Hirst unveiled a fourteen towering fetus sculptures right in front of it. Entitled “The Miraculous Journey”, this is Hirst’s first solo show in the Middle East, which embodies a huge bronze artwork chart of human gestation. Starting with a 5 meter tall sculpture illustrating the fertilization of the egg in the womb, the sculptures evolve through to show the baby’s growth and finish with an 11 meter tall fully-formed child. Explaining his creative influence, Hirst said: “Ultimately, the journey a baby goes through before birth is bigger than anything it will experience in its human life. I hope the sculpture will instill in the viewer a sense of awe and wonder at this extraordinary human process, which will soon be occurring in the Sidra Medical Center, as well as every second all across the globe.”
