Mostra Casa e Conceito by Guilherme Torres

This low -budget project for a temporary installation near the entrance of a home design exhibition in Londrina, Brazil was undertaken by Brazilian architect, Guilherme Torres. With just $1.000 to spend on the entire 60 sq.m. space, the artist screened of the area in order to create a more intimate feel and laid down a floor covering of sustainable pine, chosen not only for reasons of economy but as a direct reference to an ecologically friendly material.

Fortunately, this popular young architect had accumulated countless collections of furniture and decorative objects during his travels, which he used to furnish the space foregoing the need for any unnecessary purchases. He brilliantly decided to retain the on-site wiring and electrical fittings and work with what was there.

In his usual playful style, the bright yellow arrow graphics directs the visitors visually around the space towards a contrasting mixture of new and renovated items in natural and composite materials all in a pop art explosion of primary colours. His signature element of toys are scattered throughout, under the illumination of the classic ‘spider’ chandelier from Moooi.
