Tonkin & Taylor is a leading provider of engineering and environmental consulting services in Australia, New Zealand, Asia, the Pacific, India and the Middle East. After taking on an additional floor at their existing premises in Auckland, Tonkin & Taylor commissioned Unispace to create a multifunctional, social hub which would bring its employees together from the existing four floors.
The space is divided into zones and takes advantage of the architectural curved bay as a window seat. This also informs the circular arches radiating from the roof becoming a focal point of the room. The design incorporates multifunctional zones which can be used for informal meetings, presentations, client functions, staff events and a staff room.
The space was designed using low VOC, recycled and sustainable materials. LED down lights were used as were durable hard wearing materials. Unispace also worked with the client to relocate a section of their team by providing a new workplace layout and furniture solution.
