Oleg Klodt reconstructs and transforms a family residence in late- Constructivist style

Commissioned by a design connoisseur passionate about Soviet-era Constructivism and art from the early 20th Century, Oleg Klodt Architectural Bureau has reconstructed an existing building in Rublevka, an exclusive, countryside enclave in the outskirts of Moscow, and transformed it into a family residence shaped by late- Constructivist style. Conceived with a modern, functional approach replete with historic objects and artwork, the interiors reflect the aesthetics of this movement from the 1930s and ‘40s. Thousands of items were sourced by the design team from around the globe, including vintage memorabilia and antiques curated for their provenance. By carefully combining these with current-day pieces in the vein of Constructivist style, the discerning eye of Oleg Klodt created an interior imbued with the tastes of this era. An extensive degree of spatial reconfiguration was required as the building’s existing layout did not meet the client’s functional needs. A garage once stood where the study is located and, in the space currently used as a living room, a swimming pool was previously installed; now, a new one positioned in the fully glazed garden conservatory lets the family feel immersed in nature.
