Furniss & May have designed Stretch Yoga Studio on Broadway Market inline with their strong brand identity. Founded in 2013, Stretch have two sites in London and are due to open their third largest site to include a yoga teacher training room and spa treatment room, designed by Furniss & May later this year. The 1,022 Sq Ft site on Broadway Market is over one floor with a reception and retail space, lounge and 30 person yoga studio. Furniss & May were asked to create a memorable space that would be distinctive to reflect the brands friendly attitude, but a serious yoga practice.
The simple palette of plywood, brass, tiles and flashes of their brand colour palette used on various materials, brings an own-able identity with a sense of calm and openness. A feature painted wood and glazed partition was key to dividing the yoga studio from the reception area, allowing natural day light to move through the space and to adjoin the two areas seamlessly. The “Shhhh” yoga light adds a sense of humour and is turned on towards the end of the class to inform clients waiting in the reception area to keep their voices down to a whisper. The co-founders of Stretch have ambitious plans to expand their portfolio and have asked Furniss & May to be part of their valuable team moving forward.
“We absolutely loved working with Furniss & May, they listened to our needs, solved heaps of problems and added many innovative and beautiful touches on top of that! We love our new space, and our clients do too. We’re still very much enjoying the creative flourishes and the attention to detail. The sense of openness, gracefulness of finish – unfussy yet detailed, clean yet warming – all creates a spacious and calming experience for our clients. We have since taken on F&M for our new third Stretch, a huge flagship studio for us – naturally we’re happy to entrust the work to Jayne, Simon and their brilliant team. We envisage them as an integral part of our company expansion. Furniss & May definitely surpassed our expectations – we couldn’t be happier!” Carl Faure – Co-Founder of Stretch
